Crooked Island
06 February 2019 | Crooked Island, Bahamas
So I have to laugh as I sent a text to my younger brother to tell him all was “good” and where we were anchored.....Crooked Island.......his rebuttal....”I know you’ll straighten them out”. What a comedian!!! Thank you Mark for that moment of laughter and tons of smiles.
Anyway....we are here and anchored basically on the Atlantic Ocean almost on the beach. Jaxon, Greg and I went to the beach and took a nice long walk to where they are building a new marina off the northeastern point of Crooked Island. We met the manager of the property who was born in raised in Nassau but went to Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. He lives here sixteen days of the month and the other 15 he spends in his current home of North Carolina. The marina should open May of this year with about 35 slips. It will hopefully attract folks that want protection from the weather that you just can’t get here. You can only come to this area when there is no foul weather predicted or strong winds.
Our buddies on 2 Outrageous caught two fish yesterday, a mackerel and a Mahi, and they sent some to our boat for dinner. It was delicious. So now all the folks we hang with have caught a fish or two. I wish we had brought our tackle but Jaxon is still getting use to noises and sudden changes. I think fishing would have been too stressful this year.....but there is next year!
