When does a walk become a hike?

20 February 2019 | Hog Cay, Jumentos
When Delphina called to ask if I would like to walk the beach with them in search of driftwood for their avatar, I was all in. Sea bean hunting has become my desire on the beach this year so I was excited to go. Well, seems Bernie, Christoph, Gosha, another Christoph and Stacey really had this great hike planned to the beach. Yikes.....it is the longest hike on the island and I was ill prepared but I went anyways. Greg was working on the generator and I would either have to sit in the cockpit and read or go walk. So I chose the walk. The scenery was breathtaking but the trail had grown up a little and needed some work. Seems Christoph and Gosha (from Poland) and Bernie (German) had cut this trail three years ago and have been reworking it every year to make it a permanent trail. The views of the water surrounding the island from the highest point are just lovely. After about 3 1/2 hours we are back at our boats.......and I am tired.

Greg was just cleaning up as I got in and was hungry so we fixed a light lunch before heading in for afternoon singalong and cocktails. It always amazes me the number of folks that show up and the talent they all possess. We had four guitarists.....three harmonica players.....and several percussionists. It was a great evening of meeting new folks and just enjoying the sunset.

Tomorrow another walk is planned as well as our new friend Andre on Panorama is going to show up his 50 foot Lagoon Catamaran. Looking forward to that.
