Sounds of Sunday
04 March 2019 | Goat Cay, Great Exuma
glenda groome
We are anchored right in front of a resort called Peace and Plenty which is one of the most popular here on Great Exuma Island. It is quite obvious as the weekend has brought more traffic and the gorgeous weather has allowed for an outdoor dancing and festivities at the pool. The pool area overlooks the anchorage so we have gotten a great deals of free entertainment. Note to self....Monday through Friday this is a nice peaceful anchorage, :)
Sunday morning brings the chants and the recitiing of creeds as well as the singing of praises. You can hear several church services as you sit and just listen. There are not many air conditioned builildings so I imagine there are windows open and fans humming overhead.. We were in Governors Harbor a couple of years ago and witnessed a “celebration of life” ..... i imagine Sunday mornings are not much different.
Greg made one last trip to town for fuel for the dinghy and a pound of hamburger. When he returned we ate an early lunch and then decided to pick up the anchor and head down to another anchorage where we would be closer to the propane station. He will take our tanks in to have them filled prior to leaving Georgetown.
The anchorage at Goat Cay had just one other boat in it. Plenty of room to anchor. This is where we met 2 Outrageous and Migration a couple of years ago. I think we had close to 12 boats in here for a “blow” to get some protection back then. Greg and Jaxon head to the beach for some play time for the little guy and as I take a short rest.
Another day is coming to an end at the skies open up for a short squall. The dance to close all ports, hatches and zip up the enclosure begins. It is one dance we both do pretty well!
