glenda groome
An early morning start has Robin, Greg, Jaxon and I headed into Isles Grocery to check on provisioning with some vegetables. I have to laugh as I think about the “stressor” that brought on shingles was the lack of vegetables......so I guess I hope we find some today ..... would not want to get shingles again. LOL. The store did not have the fresh veggies I was looking for but there was promise of a delivery from the mail boat today so we would swing back after lunch and check. I was still able to find a few things I had been needing so all in all it was a “profitable” trip.
We scoot back to the boats, unload our goods and pick up Barry for our return to Staniel Cay Yacht Club for lunch. We wanted the prime spot outside where we could sit with Jaxon and watch the sharks swimming about. We were treated to watching a film crew as three folks swam with the nurse sharks as part of a commercial for a tour business. Our lunch was very good and the rum punch and a half went down too easy.
Barry, Robin and I hit the streets on a little tour of the island while Greg and Jaxon continue to watch the shark activity. The place has not changed too much in the last two years but one major change is the trash collection that use to cost $6 is no longer being charged. We walk around to the Blue store and hit paydirt with milk , asparagus, avocados and a few other items. We tried the Pink store but found it locked so we continued on down to Isles General where they were just unloading the boat. Knowing that she is short handed, we immediately pitch in to help unload boxes of fruits and vegetables from the truck bed. Again we have hit paydirt and get pineapples and mangoes.......we are done. Back to meet up with Greg and Jaxon and get out treasured stowed before appy hour on Ti Amo.
Once back on Ti Amo we notice a sea plane on pig beach and while having appy hour he motors through the anchorage right between our boats. It was quite the moment here in the anchorage as everyone had their cameras out and were staring as this event unfolded. Next thing we knew he was flying back over our heads.
Another day has come to a close and it has been a great one! Greg and I have not done this part of the Exumas this year in anticipation of getting to do it with Robin and Barry. What fun we are having exploring together. Tomorrow we head to Shroud Cay.....about thirty miles north of Staniel Cay.
Connectivity will be an issue as this is part of the Land and Sea Park and there are no towers. So if you don’t see a post for a couple of days.....check pack, I promise to post as soon as we get internet back.
