We arrived safely yesterday morning......Friday at about 10:00 in the morning we were in the channel and heading into a marina for fuel and safety from the upcoming gale force winds.
Out trip was amazing. Jaxon suffered the most as the noises below deck (pots and pans banging) scared him and made him super nervous. We found that putting him in his travel crate in the cockpit with us was best and we only had to do it when it was dark. During the days he was out and about and the noises did not bother him as much as he stayed upstairs with us playing as much as we could let him.
We had dolphin with us from time to time and Jaxon would bark at them. It was a riot. Then we had the little bird that came to stay (below deck) with us for a bit and we caught five fish without attempting.
Our first day out we had a great sail. Chris Parkers forecast and routing were perfect. We knew where to be as he provided lat and longs and told us what to expect so we had no real surprises. We were really fortunate this year as we had gotten a satellite device that would allow us to text and email our entire trip. So when we had questions or concerns, Chris would text us to tell us if things were changing. Nice to have that ability as well as keep family posted on how we were doing.
We finished our passage with a hug and “we made it” as well as “we are still talking to each other”. It is funny but when we are under the tense conditions we seem to do our best. Neither ever got sick but there was not much sleeping going on so we could have been pretty “punchie” but somehow we pulled it all together.
When we arrived in Morehead, 2 Outrageous was here. We took an afternoon nap and then joined them for dinner at a local restaurant. I don’t think I have eaten a meal that delicious in some time. It was not only great tasting but very reasonably priced. 2 Outrageous is going to leave today (Saturday) and go on the inside to Deltaville at their pace while Greg and I will leave Monday and head for the outside route.
Home sweet home is just around the corner.
