With A LIttle Help

18 November 2019 | Awendaw Creek

Being on a bulkhead dock with the wind pushing you into it is always fun when trying to get off of it. “With a little help” from a gentleman staying at the RV park we were able to get off without issue. It was yet another grey, cloudy day and the only sunshine at the moment was Jaxon. He wakes up every morning ready to play and wanting his portion of our attention. He is much better today about the noise in the boat “with a little help” from a friend.

Our goal for the day is to get as close to Charleston as we can by 1500 hours. Spartina is leading the way as they shoved off about forty minutes ahead of us. With the communication back and forth during the morning, it was becoming painfully obvious that the current was not our friend. We had hoped for “a little help” from the current but found ourselves fighting it most of the morning. Once past the South Santee River we were able to keep up with the current but then found ourselves once again fighting it a bit.

The Iggles (Eagles) are on at 4:30 and by 3:00 we have decided to anchor in Awendaw Creek. Behind us are two trawlers that have followed along with us from time to time. 2 Outrageous, who was anchored in the South Santee and decided to move, is with Spartina now about another ten miles towards Charleston.

The game is on and while that is happening, my thoughts turn to home as our nephew is getting married. Wedding texts are floating in with pictures of the bride and groom. Is warms my heart and makes for a great afternoon/evening. With that we will call it a day!
