Thanksgiving Day at Sea
29 November 2019 | Lake Worth, Florida

When we approached Fort Pierce we were enjoying such a lovely sail that we could not bring ourselves to go in. So we made the decision to set our sails for Fort Lauderdale.
We had plenty of time on our hands at this point to talk about anchoring or getting a mooring ball, but what we had not anticipated was the push we were getting from the strong northerly winds. We were going to arrive way too early in the morning to be comfortable with anchoring in the area. So we continued our way doing what sailors do.....calculating with various devices in hand.
We had a lovely day and got to text with family but our connectivity was not good enough to make phone calls. One of my favorite days of the year as my family typically gathers at my younger brothers house and it is full of laughter and chatter from about 20 - 30 folks. That in itself is a lot to be thankful for.
Today Greg, Jaxon and I are thankful for family, friends, health and most certainly Ti Amo as she is performing like a champ. Not one issue (knock on wood) and that has made this trip so enjoyable.
With the thoughts of the sun setting at 1730 hours we feel we need to alter our course and head in at Lake Worth where we know we can get anchored pretty easily. We have at least another 8 hours to Fort Lauderdale. Great decision to stop at Lake Worth as it allows us to have our own little Thanksgiving feast...but it came with a little stress. First there was the chop at the mouth of the inlet along with the fact we wanted to get our main sail in before heading in as it was getting dark. Next came the cruise ship that was leaving out of the inlet.......then follow that with the barge that wanted to go in an a snails pace. The captain handled it all perfectly!
The anchor is down at 1815 hours and we are preparing dinner and watching a little football.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
