With Philadelphia being in town to play the Miami Dolphins, there is just one thing to do. We quickly got on Stubhub to see if tickets were available at a reasonable price. Luckily there were many available and not too bad a price so we secured the tickets.
Next would be how would be get there without have a car and yes....we Ubered over. From Las Olas Marina to the Miami Stadium was only $34. We thought that was not bad so we have John meet us just outside the marina gate. Nice driver from Haiti. I always like to find out where they are from and what brought them to the states. John was quick to tell us he has an uncle and a brother here and that he came over on a visa and has since gotten his citizenship papers. I just don’t know how he got a BMw 3 series in the three years he has been here. Oh well. On to the game and in plenty of time. The stadium looks nice and the tailgating is more Philly folks than Dolphin fans. Everyone is cooking cheesesteaks or brats and tossing footballs around. Lots to watch.
In the stadium we take in the sights and start looking for our seats. We are sitting on the visitors side and there are a ton of Philadelphia fans. There were a few Dolphin fans sprinkled here and there but it was definitely Eagle territory. While the win we were hoping for eluded us, the experience and fun did not.
After the game when we looked at the Uber app for our trip back to Fort Lauderdale, it was $115. WHAT??? We walked a few blocks to get out of the stadium traffic to see if we could get a better rate. Seems everyone was doing the same thing. Then a few taxis came buy offering rides and we found one for $70 back to Fort Lauderdale. We were happy to take it and again another driver from Haiti. I was too tired to ask questions, but he got us home safely and was a super guy.
Hard to believe how tired we were from sitting in the sun and watching the game, but we came home to one bubbly little guy. Jaxon greeted us like we had not seen him in weeks. And yes within five minutes he was back to taking a nap or playing with his toys. We scooted down the street and got a salad for dinner before calling it a night.
