Hearts

29 December 2019 | Key Largo, FL

They come in all shapes and sizes......and there is an abundance of them here. If you don’t have a heart, Mari-Etta is your girl!

Seriously if you have ever been in Key Largo or Tavernier, you have had to notice that businesses, homes, parks and even cars and boats adorn these hearts. Our dear friends that allow us to visit with them each year are what we would refer to as “Heart Central” or the center of the heart if you prefer.

But I mean that in more than one way. Mari-Etta since the first year we arrived here in 2015 until now has been purchasing plywood, cutting out hearts, stringing solar powered lights on them and giving them to folks along the way. Ti Amo had one our first year as we sailed to the Bahamas but sadly it did not do well in our crossing home that year. Now we have a smaller one we keep inside the boat to always remind us not only of Mari-Etta and Ed, but that the heart is “central” and without it all function stops.

What a beautiful gift to give someone! I mean not only does she give them a heart, but she gives her time, love and talent with each one she creates and the joy she has in doing it is the gift she receives in return.

We will miss Heart Harbor......if ever I personally needed Heart Harbor the most, it would be this year. It has been a great visit with lots of love and new friendships made. Thanks to Ed, Mari-Etta, David, Marcellas, Ryan, Steve, Lizzie, Juan, Alison, Dean, Joy, Jeff, Julie, Memi, Jeff, and many others I cannot recall the names of at the moment.
