Jaxon Gets His Wish
02 January 2020 | Great Harbor Cay Anchorage, Bahamas
New Years Day!
A day of new beginnings, new friends, new territory and for Jaxon a new beach!
We left the marina and headed out to the anchorage outside of Great Harbor Cay to enjoy some of the anchorage and mangroves with our dinghies and to explore a bit. Once you get tied to a dock you feel more land bound and find yourself walking or riding. We come for the water and the beaches so we tend to like to explore by dinghy and Jaxon is in his groove there.
We first went exploring with 2 Outrageous (Laurie & Paul) and No Limits (Joanne & John) one of the mangrove runs that takes you to the other side of the island. Is was short lived as you need to go at high tide and unfortunately we were on the downhill side of that. We would abate and try again tomorrow.
Jaxon was super excited to see his first beach. He was like a wild man. He swam from the dinghy to shore and ran up and down the beach and then as you would expect he stopped to rub his face and body in the warm sand. YUCK! Oh well that is why we have a shower on the back of the boat. We let him have his fun as the rest of us sat and told stories of previous cruising years.
Greg, Jaxon and I departed to take another short exploration ride of another area before heading back to Ti Amo. With our first sunset at anchorage, all hands are on deck awaiting the moment. Funny how a small trawler ends up crossing just at that moment.
We turn our thoughts to dinner and calling it another early night as we are trying to catch up on lost sleep. Thanks to our dear friend Andre’ Martel on Panorama, we are have the best linguine with clams we have ever had. He had given us a can of clams from Canada that were just amazing. I added some large prawns as well. Looked pretty good if you ask me and Greg commented it was the best he had ever had. Again....thanks Andre’.
Within moments, I look over and someone is asleep on the couch and I don’t mean Jaxon, though he is out as well. It is barely 8:00 but Greg is exhausted. Off to bed for him as I enjoy sitting and listening to the night and the sound of the dinghy playing in the water.
It is great to be back!
