Stretching the legs

06 January 2020 | Great Harbour Cay Marina, Bahamas

Most of you know I love to walk and seems the last couple of years I have been in the company of another walker which helps me keep moving when sometimes the back seems so stiff I don’t want to move. Great Harbour has allowed for some bicycling and walking which is just such a great bonus.

Joanne was the first to the laundry mat this morning. With only two washers and dryers by th time I got up there with my loads, I was third in line. This would eat into my walking time for sure. Then all got crazy in the laundromat and I had to be my assertive self (which those who know me know I don’t like conflict so this was quite out of character). So Joanne was first, Bonnie was second and I was third in line. This old sport fisherman came into the laundry mat with one bag, preceded to put it on top of one of the washing machines and then open up Joanne’s wash. I asked could I help him and he wanted to know when she would be done. I told him there was a a line of three people and he would be fourth. He said “oh no.....my bag has been sitting here since first thing this morning”. I put on my big girl britches and told him.....”no no.....you just laid it there....I saw you and you are not next in line....you are fourth and when I am done I will come get you. What is your boat name?” Wow....I don’t know where I got the courage to do that but he backed down and said “well okay but I have been here a while”. “You were not here when they opened and have not been here for the last hour that we have all been here so stop with all the stories”. With that he tucked his tail and thanked me for coming to get him when I was about to get out of the washers. Soon after he left I found myself helping everyone find their place in line and offering to come get them when it was time. Who knew laundry could be so stressful! After I was out of the washer then of course I was in the dryers and my new friend on “Last Chance” came to put he clothes in the wash and he became the sweetest little social butterfly with all the women.

Once my tour as Laundry Witch was done, Joanne, Laurie, John and I went for a long walk back to the beach and then to the point on the beach. We found all sorts of treasures but could not find one single sea bean. There were several sand dollars, sea biscuits and sea glass for our treasure trove.

Back at the marina the boys are all getting geared up to go watch the Eagles game at a bar in town. The marina is taking a van of folks over to the game and then bringing them back. John, Joanna, Paul and Greg went while Laurie, Jaxon and I stayed back for yet another small walk to stretch Jaxon’s legs.

After an unfortunate loss by the Eagles, the boys are back and the plan is to leave first thing in the morning for Cabbage Cay.
