Swinging and Swaying
23 January 2020 | Kidd Cove, George Town, Exumas, Bahamas
All is quiet in the anchorage.....not a dinghy motor running and all is pretty windy and we are rocking pretty well. The next thing we hear is the radio squawking that there is a motor vessel in Kidd Cove dragging and no one is responding to the requests to check his anchor. He must have still been asleep as it was pretty early.
Most of the day was much of the same. One poor couple was in at Peace and Plenty having brunch with their parents who were visiting when they were pulled from their meal because their boat near Chat N Chill was dragging. The boat was locked up so persons could not get on board to fire it up and move it for them.
I am sure there are a lot of reasons for leaving your boat unattended during a blow, but we choose to sit with Ti Amo and make sure she is playing nice with the others in the anchorage. Greg busied himself with making water and helping a fellow Yanmar owner trouble shoot his starter issues over the radio. I relaxed most of the day as our nights have been stressful and fitful sleep. I later baked some apple crisp for our neighbor who helped me pick up Greg at the dock the night before.
All of this day was spent reflecting on "what would momma be thinking" as it was her birthday. Notes from friends and siblings warmed the heart and brought smiles throughout the day. But truly I wonder what she would have thought of me crossing the Atlantic to the Bahamas for now our fourth season. Of one thing I am certain.....we will probably have that conversation one day! Happy Birthday!
