glenda groome

With goodbyes and see you laters passed about, we were off at 9:30 to head to Fernandina.
We traveled the ICW to Fernandina knowing that we would be facing some tidal issues around Jekyll Island. We were going in at low tide. Of course we have fond memories of this spot last year when someone in our fleet went aground. I mean “tow boat” aground. As you can see we still had a foot under the keel as we came through.
This area is lovely as we meander around Cumberland Island and off to starboard is the submarine/naval station. I always get a chill when I see those vessels. Being claustrophobic.......they are probably the best torture device for me. Just saying!
We cross the Saint Mary’s inlet and round the corner to the Fernandina municipal marina and again we will go to the starboard side of the river and head for Lanceford Creek where Charlie Gaines from Osprey keeps his boat.
With a little luck we finally get Ti Amo tide up with a strong current and a strong opposing wind.
We are here and no one could be happier than Jaxon. Teri and Charlie have prepared appetizers and dinner for us. We sure hope we get to reciprocate one day with the Great Loop in his plans! Tomorrow we will spend the day with them and Charlie’s mother. Much more than we had planned for Thanksgiving.
