Palm Beach will always be a favorite destination for this crew as it is the home of a dear friend Bill Hipple and family. We always enjoy meeting Bill for lunch and catching up. Bill has recently retired from the position he has held for fourteen years as the captain of a mega yacht Lady Kath. Lady Kath has been sold and has gone to a new home. Bill will now focus some of his time and energy on household projects and caring for elders in his family. With a trip to the grocery store and a small tour of the area, Bill dropped us back at the dinghy dock and bid us farewell.
Back aboard Ti Amo the captain is busy checking our weather sources to see when we can make passage to our Christmas home in Tavanier, Key Largo. Groceries are stowed and as I am planning dinner, the next words I hear are.....”if we want to get there by Christmas, we have got to leave now”. With that I quickly make sandwiches for dinner as we are going to do a 21 hour over nite passage to Tavanier. We had to go slow to time the tide getting into Tavanier and we also needed to get out of the Lake Worth Inlet before the flooding tide.
The captain made all the right calls. I wish we had of had better cameras to catch Jupiter and Saturn in the sky as we watch the night sky. We arrived at the perfect time to get into Tavanier though we had to dodge a catamaran and two children playing on paddle boards that were occupying the channel. It is a narrow channel with just enough room to make it exciting. We scoot past the catamaran and into Heart Harbor where Jeff is at work on the yard and comes to lend a hand with our lines. Home away from home! Heart ❤️ Harbor!
