With an upcoming front offering a projected 40 knot gusts out of the Northwest, we found ourselves in a similar situation as we would in the Bahamas. Where could we sit out the “blow” and ride comfortably? Not familiar with any of these anchorages along the Gulf Coast, we took a stab at the charts and found Glover Bight seemed to provide the best protection. We left Fort Myers to head directly to Cape Coral hoping to beat the rest of the traffic.
We found a great spot. We were the third boat to find this spot and we had plenty of room. Actually it is a little out of the way but it suited our purpose. We found a couple of coves to dinghy and one had a wonderful lunch spot that allowed Jaxon ashore. Honestly the food was some of the best we have had and everything came out of the kitchen at the perfect temperature. That does not happen often but it made this stop for us in the midst of four days of “sitting”, most enjoyable.
We are not sure of our next stop yet as we have a small issue we would like looked at in Fort Myers or here before we depart. We are awaiting some advice from some folks before we chart that next move.
