All good things must come to an end? Seriously? We probably could have brought Robin home with us if it were not for her car at Fort Myers and her husband asking if we kidnapped her. It has been a true delight to spend a part of this trip with her. Not knowing our schedule of when or where we would be, it was not on our radar to have anyone aboard this year, but somehow it all fell into place within a phone call or two.
With our 0800 arrival into Key West, we cleaned up and hit the ground as soon as we could. Greg had to take our computer into the shop as it had died at Marco Island. Once he returned he carried us in for lunch and an afternoon of shopping for souvenirs and other stuff. Yes....the drink at Sunset Pier is a must do ...... checked that off the list and enjoyed watching the boats come and go.
We sadly bid Robin farewell at about 1600 hours at the Key West Ferry Dock and then headed back to Ti Amo. We would all need naps as we had not gotten much sleep on our overnight passage and some would turn in early for the night. Robin was driving straight through making small pit stops here and there to get home to Virginia where the temperature was in the 60’s....far better than the 30’s she had left in.
Our next move is to the Dry Tortugas. We were hoping to be leaving this morning but it sounds as though the weather may be a bit dicey through the weekend. Such is life!
