With weather on our side, we departed Key West and headed up the Hawk Channel to anchor in the waters outside Marathons Harbor entrance. We were glad we had a peaceful night as we would then begin our long trek up the Florida Keys and then hopefully up as much of the coast of Florida as possible.
My main task while at anchor is to cook meals that can be heated in the microwave for our overnight passages. I made an Italian meatloaf with lamb and angus beef, mozzarella cheese, rosemary, breadcrumbs and egg whites as well as I cooked an already seasoned pork tenderloin. The meatloaf would render three meals and the porK tenderloin two. So we are set for five nights on the ocean with just a little rice and green beans or broccoli.
We are experiencing our most rolling at the moment but we are heading in to grab some fuel and possibly hide from some weather at Saint Augustine. The weather has been great so far and we don’t want to push past Georgia without a good weather window as there is really no where to duck in if it gets bad. We may leave Saint Augustine and do the ICW up to Jacksonville and head back out there.
More fun to come.
