Lots of Rain

We left Solomoms and headed north to St Michaels. St Michaels is another on of those charming towns in the Chesapeake that we always wanted to stop at but never found the time. We anchored close to the marina so we had a short dinghy ride into town. Our first day was real nice however our next 2 days [...]

Our Journey Home

Our crossing went well if you like 7 foot seas that make the boat roll and roll. Lunch consisted of crackers and humus. After a 10 hour sail. Yes we could sail. We landed in Ft Pierce. Spent almost a week in Vero Beach. While we were in Marsh Harbor a girlfriend that I hadn't seen in 20 years approached [...]

Great Sailing

Today we had a great sail from Great Sail Cay to West End. We sailed most of the morning at about 7 knots with a north wind. Wind died down in the afternoon which turned out great as we need a high tide coming through Indian Cay. Our 6 foot draft has made many of our sailing days a challenge in the [...]

Lubers to Hope Town

The weather this past week was nearly perfect. Although there were a few days we would have liked a bit more wind for sailing. We started the week off with a sail to Lubbers Quarters. A small island just west of Elbow Cay. We had lunch at Cracker P’s and spent the rest of the afternoon walking [...]

The Carolinas

The Carolina’s

It’s been a while since I wrote last. We got socialy busy with family and friends. Our 2-3 day planned visit with my sister in Seabrook Island turned into a 5 day visit. The weather while we were there was drizzly and cool. Extending our stay gave us quality time with Denise and John in addition to hair cuts for both Maggie and I, shopping, movies, cooking and overall a great time.
We left Seabrook and jumped out of the ICW heading to Charleston. Final destination being Myrtle Beach, SC. We left Charleston and headed up the ICW. Many areas we really crawled through due to all the shoaling. I was disappointed I didn’t get a picture of the Charleston fire boat that was had run aground in the channel.

We met up with our friends on Sloop John Dee and docked next to them at Myrtle Beach Yacht Club. Again a 2-3 night planned stay turned into a week due to a few rainy days and north winds. We made the best of our time there with a week end rental car, two fun nights out at The Carolina Oprey, 18 holes of golf. Yes, we finally got out the clubs and and enjoyed 18 holes. It was a par three course that was perfect for us after not having played for a while.

On our way to Annapolis to get the hatch fixed and the satelite TV. Did I mention that our satellite antenna also broke down while in Myrtle Beach. TV worked perfect on Saturday but when Rich wanted to enjoy an afternoon of golf, a home cooked dinner and 60 Minutes, no satellite. Or as my screen read “ COMPLETE SIGNAL LOSS” UGH!! The good news is when we get to Annapolis the parts we need to fix it will be there. The trip to Annapolis is about 6-7 days and we are happy to be making the journey with Sloop John Dee. We spent yesterday in the ICW and headed outside for our trip from Wrightsville to Beaufort NC
Rich did break out his warm and fuzzy jacket yesterday morning but today is warmer and our days going forward look to be in the mid seventies. I’ll try to bring home warm temps.
