K well my partner and I have a four year plan, we are saving every penny and buying a Catamaran! We plan to live and work aboard, we also plan to fit the boat out with wind/solar/alternative energy sources and do away with any type of engine! People have been sailing for thousands of years without motors and we wish to make as little impact on an already taxed planet!
We will have composting toilets, solar and wind for electronics, and basic onboard needs. We plan on carrying a genny, but only to use when absolutely needed??
Sound crazy? maybe but it's our dream, we are young (35-36) and believe it's possible to do so, we both dive, are jacks of all trades, and feel that if we don't do it now we'll always wonder....
We are hoping to take some bluewater sailing courses, join others as crew for experience, and get to know others of like minds...
Both of us are paddlers (canoes and kayaks) we love the outdoors and are willing to sacrifice much (including time with each other) in order to accomplish our dreams and goals...
