s/v Gypsy Wind

We are preparing our 40 year old Tartan "TOCK" 41 for an extended cruise. The plan is to leave So. California for Mexico and the Sea of Cortez, first. Eventually, we would like to sail east, to Florida and cruise there, the Bahamas, and do the ICW.

Goofing Off...

20 July 2011
MEB
We returned from Florida on the redeye Monday night, and at breakfast Tuesday, we planned this coming weekend at Catalina Island. This summer the weather is too nice to waste on boat jobs, house jobs, and all the things we are doing to prepare for our trip. So, even though we have so much to do before we can go sailing, we are going to goof off at Catalina, for yet another weekend. At least we will be able to try out the new mainsail and lazy jacks. Plus, I heard the visibility is excellent right now, so maybe we'll be able to get in a SCUBA dive or two.

While we were in Florida I took this photo of the mural on the wall of our family room there. When we bought the house a few years ago, we hired a local artist to paint a picture of Gypsy Wind in a Florida/Caribbean/tropical setting. She used a simple snapshot of the boat that I had taken with my point and shoot one time while we were visiting Catalina, as her guide.

I think it came out pretty nice, eh?
