Time for an update

Since the last post the weather has been goo except for last week when Alison and Chris came out to visit. Almost as soon as their plane touched down the rain started and it was on and of till they left. They are not great sun worshippers so it didn't really make that much difference for them. We had [...]

Getting Settled in

We are now getting properly settled in, finding the best places to shop, pay the bills etc.

Back again

I suspect everyone is wondering where we have been. Shortly after our last post we decided that living on board was not the best option and that it was time to put Haggis Hunter on the market. We then started looking at rented accommodation and found the place we are now in. It is a very nice quite new [...]

Woops it's 2 weeks since my last post

Didn't realise it had been so long since I posted something. We are settling in to having a car and now trying not to use it too much, but the freedom is great. We went to a Country and Western lunch and afternoon at Silves a small town a bit west of here that has a dramatic castle in the middle of the [...]

Almost a month now

Peter
Well that's us nearly finished our first four weeks, doesn't time fly when you are having fun. We seem to be making progress, albeit slow at times. We now have signed the contract for our berth and paid, so we really are here for the next twelve months. Last weekends rain has passed and whilst it is now a bit cooler we still as hitting the low twenties every day, basically still shorts and tee shirt weather, though the folks who own the little boat next to us were saying it gets colder in November down to the high teens. All though looks fine for the next few weeks, so we will enjoy it while it lasts.

Maggie started at the local charity shop today, she is just covering vacancies at the moment but she had a good time and is looking forward to her next visit.

We have decided that it is probably best to buy a vehicle here rather than come back for the Bongo and looked at another Bongo during the week. It still had UK plates so we told the chap that until it was Portuguese registered we were not interested as I think it may not be quite as easy as he suggest to get it registered here, watch this space.

May and Margo went back on Tuesday, though they had an hours delay. Gavin and Sally Anne and 2 friends who are staying in a villa to the east of Faro came to visit on Sunday which was nice, though we got caught in a very heavy shower and got thoroughly wet by the time we got back.

We are still coming to terms with the bus system and on Wednesday hopped on a bus expecting our destination to be the next stop, wrong, we went all round the north of the town back to the bus station, then back to where we had boarded, then to a stop that wasn't on timetable before getting to where we wanted to go. Still this is Portugal and you just go with the flow.

The picture is Millie and Maggie on the road from the marina to town, Millie is obviously more interested in the fishing boats in the harbour below
