Time for an update

Since the last post the weather has been goo except for last week when Alison and Chris came out to visit. Almost as soon as their plane touched down the rain started and it was on and of till they left. They are not great sun worshippers so it didn't really make that much difference for them. We had [...]

Back again

I suspect everyone is wondering where we have been. Shortly after our last post we decided that living on board was not the best option and that it was time to put Haggis Hunter on the market. We then started looking at rented accommodation and found the place we are now in. It is a very nice quite new [...]

Woops it's 2 weeks since my last post

Didn't realise it had been so long since I posted something. We are settling in to having a car and now trying not to use it too much, but the freedom is great. We went to a Country and Western lunch and afternoon at Silves a small town a bit west of here that has a dramatic castle in the middle of the [...]

After the Storm

Peter
Well that was a wet and windy weekend, but we are pretty sheltered here in the marina so apart from the wet it was not that bad really. Negotiations on the Bongo are going well at the moment but as today is a public holiday no extra news yet

Despite the weather we managed to get in a fair bit of socialising with some of Maggies new chums from the charity shop coming down on Saturday evening for drinks, ad a couple we met who are at the camp-site came for drinks again on Sunday. We had a quiet day today and went for a walk to get some info on a hotel for May who is hoping to come out again for a month in March.

The real drama was on the way back, as we were walking into the marina I spotted what looked like a sunken yacht, closer inspection proved me right There were just the two masts of a schooner sticking out of the water. There was a team working on raising her with flotation bags and we stood and watched, getting colder as the sun set, as she slowly came up again. They then moved her from the berth to the lifting berth. They seemed to be having a lot of problems getting the lifting strops on and as it was almost dark and we couldn't really see what was happening we left then.

We hope to get the whole story tomorrow so watch this space
