Timing is Everything

After spending a few nights without the luxury of shore power we have come to the conclusion that we don't have enough reserve battery power. After talking to a neighbouring boater, we learned that the best place to buy batteries was from an automotive supplier approx. 4 miles away. Or we could pay the grossly inflated prices from the local marine store within a half mile. Was the convenience worth the extra money? In the words of the late John Pinette, "I say nay, nay"!
Out come the trusty 8 speed MEC fold up bikes and single wheel trailer, the sailor's version of a pick up truck and off to the store for 2 rounds of battery retrieval. Luckily I still had some heavy gauge cable, battery lugs and crimping tool so I could install the 2 new units into my system. We now have the ability to stay powered for close to 3 days without recharging.
