We're Goin' to The End of The Line
22 July 2014

Today is out last day in the Trent Severn Canal system. We've made the entire length of the system from end to end and lived to tell about it. We also got a report from the lock operator at Big Chute telling us that aside from a patch of white paint showing on our keel. our bottom looked fine in spite of all the spring plowing we have done over the past 2 weeks.
Our friends Bruce and Esther met us at Big Chute just in time to ride over the road and down into Georgian Bay with us. It was a really unique experience to be on your boat as it heads across a road and down a very steep incline. We were expecting this to take some time but we were called into the lock within a couple of minutes of arriving on the Blue Line and the total trip took less time than a regular lock!. From there we made our way through Glouster Pool and the last lock at Port Severn.
We then headed to the Wye Heritage Marina in Midland for the night. Sam did a good job of negotiating a 3 night stay for the price of 2 and we get our mast stepped, with an experienced crane operator for $100. Not too bad! We're reprovisioning and getting the boat ready for the trip up into the 30,000 islands...under sail!
