I’ll get to today’s adventure summary momentarily but first, a Rick Mercer- esque Rant.
Well, today is my last official day as a Bell employee and I have to say it appears the company is going to hell in a hand basket without me. After years of enduring stories from people I meet about how brutal Bell’s service is, it’s my turn! I had made arrangements to have my company Blackberry transferred over to my own personal account so I could preserve the phone number. I had approval and a note attached to my account prior to leaving on vacation late in June. I called on Tuesday am as we left the incredible town of Britt to have the transfer made as I didn’t know if we’d have service where we were heading. So, we’re out on Georgian Bay at 9 am in 4-5’ waves, in the usual rock strewn waters of the eastern shore of the bay and I’m on the phone with Mobility while Sam is navigating. I get through and then am told the authorization for the transfer has expired.....WTF? So, I call the internal contact back, get her to extend the authorization and am told it’s only good for today??? I’ve been an employee for almost 34 years, maybe this is legit??
Next call is back to Mobility and I’m then told I need to create an account and they need 2 sources of photo ID. I patiently explain to the guy that I am an employee, have been one for almost 34 years, have an existing account for home phone, cell, TV and internet so just add it to the other account... .oh yeah, and I also told him I didn’t have a fax machine on the boat. So after indicating my level of frustration in a very professional manner, (I’ve mellowed since being off work for 6 weeks apparently) he finally decided he could do this via taking my info over the phone. After 20 minutes, we’re done. Hang up and figure everything is good. Last night I try and do email and nothing works. Call in this morning and am told they created my account for a smart phone instead of a Blackberry....get that straightened out and I think everything is working now. I may have to sell my stocks when I get home.
Now, back to our travels...this morning we awoke to yet another wet cold November/July morning in Killarney. The aforementioned boat in movie never happened last night, which really ticked me off as we had front dock seats for that! So, we left and headed west. We are now firmly in the North Channel anchored out in a bay just west of the town of Little Current (very inappropriate name seeing as I had to hold the boat in position for 20 minutes in a 15 knot headwind and 2 knot current waiting for the hourly swing bridge opening!) we made a pit stop in town for the Canine Crusader to water the plants and then motored out for an hour and dropped the hook and celebrated my last day of employment with a beer! We made it......in more ways than one!
