I Can See Paradise By The Sunset Light

02 August 2014
Another great night at anchor. We got an early start to make the bridge opening at Little Current, which opens every hour on the hour and only stays open for up to 15 minutes depending on boat traffic. If you're not there in time they won't wait...and if the 15 minutes is up and you're part way through you better move it cuz once they start the swing, they don't stop. We got there with 8 minutes to spare and had a NASCAR quick pit stop for Outward Hound to take care of business just up stream of the bridge. (his schedule was a bit off as we left earlier than normal today, doncha know!)

We did a total of 60 miles today and had to motor the whole way as there was no wind at all. Figures, last week when we're in the 30,000 keel ripping rocks (I mean Islands) we're getting gale force winds from the west with Hawaii 5-0 sized waves. Now, when we're on the west side of the lake, it's like a mirror.

We arrived at a hurricane hole anchorage at Club Island at approx. 3 pm and dropped the hook in water that looked like the Caribbean. The similarity ends there however as a swim consisting of jump in, scream, fly up the affair....but it felt good and everyone's heart was in tact in the end. We're 5 miles off shore and 18 miles north of Tobermory so we're in the middle of nowhere...but we have cell service. The silence here is amazing! The sunset was very nice as well.
