New Orleans is Sinking

23 December 2016 | Bourbon St. New Orleans
Well, it just keeps getting better for us. We spent 2 days in New Orleans and left today. We went downtown and did the tourist Bourbon St. Area and the waterfront. There was some nice architecture but the place was pretty disserted as it apparently doens't come alive until the evening.

We're in Lake Charles Texas tonight at Chez Walmart. Parked the Rv and then discovered our batteries were only at 12.5 volts! Another good considering we were plugged in for 2 days and our truck alternator puts out 14.2 volts. So, got out my trusty multimeter to try and troubleshoot and...it crapped out! So, bought a new digital 1 at Walmart. Good news.....the charging current from the truck was making it through the plug into the RV. So, then started looking around and found the main charging 30 amp fuse was blown. Not sure why, but replaced it and started the truck and it was charging the batteries. Still gotta find out why it blew and why the batteries were so low.

I did some trouble shooting on our trailer lights yesterday and some weird things going on there but got them working. So, I might have touched something that blew the fuse but didn't see any sparks, which you would think you would to blow a 30 amp fuse. Anyway, we'll shut the main off tonight so ensure we don't run them down too far and damage them and then do some troubleshooting when we get to a park tomorrow night. I'm also wondering if the roads in Louisiana had something to do with all of this.

Hwy 55 coming into New Orleans and hwy 10 leaving were the worst washboard I've been on in a long time. The RV spent more time in the air than on the road and it didn't seem to matter what speed we were doing cuz I tried anywhere from 80-110. It seem to set up a harmonic that got worse until I finally backed off the gas and/or hit the brakes then it settled down only to start the cycle all over again. At first I thought it was just the elevated causeways with the expansion joints, but the same problem was happening today on hwy 10 on the regular road so I'm hoping Texas has better roads. Otherwise, I'll have to apply for a pilot's licence!!!
