The Fire Down Below
07 December 2017

Hit the road after a slow start.....yacking through the night will do that to you. The weather is supposed to turn very cold, for this part of the country anyway so we're running straight south to try and avoid it. This is deja vu from last year! Truck is running great, which is a load off my mind, and the rig pulling with no issues. We stopped a Walmart to get some supplies as we needed some food and water.
They are calling for -6C temperatures over the next 2 days so we have to decide if we a) drain all the water out of the rig and re-winterize it, or b) figure out how to protect the plumbing. I opted for b as we still had to live in the rig. So, I figured we could protect the inside plumbing by keeping the place heated (a no brainer) and protect the holding and freshwater tanks by putting trouble lights in those compartments under the floor of the rig. The old style incandescent bulbs give off enough heat to stop things from freezing at least for a day or 2....I hope. I'm also going to dump my hot water tank into my freshwater tank prior to going to sleep so it should raise the temperature enough to keep it from freezing overnight. All of the drains for the various sinks/shower are inside the rig so we should be OK.
We passed through a place called Adamsville Tennessee, which is home of the Buford Pusser museum. For those of you that don't know, Buford was a sheriff made famous by the movie Walking Tall, staring Joe Don Baker, Bo Svensen in the remake and then more recently Duane, The Rock, Johnson in the latest version. Buford took on local organized crime back in the 60's but eventually died in a suspicious car crash. It looked like a sleepy little town to us, but I guess it wasn't always that way.
Sam called ahead and got us a reservation in Marion Mississippi, and we splurged for the extra $3 for 50 amp service. They were calling for....wait for it....SNOW tonight! We're in Mississippi!!!!! We're gonna try and make a break due west in the morning to get out of this weather pattern.
