So Pharr Away

16 December 2017 | Pharr Texas
Made the trek down to Pharr Texas on Thursday. It's down near Brownsville and is about as far south as you can go without either getting wet in the Gulf or crossing into Mexico. ( we haven't been down to the border yet so I don't know if the Trump Wall is up here or not. More to come on this). The park looks like it's been around for a few years (read, it was new when I was) so some of the park model homes could use a little Reno work. But, the grounds are nice and the are tennis courts, indoor pickle ball, outdoor heated pool-hot tub, shuffleboard courts, a wood shop, sewing room, library, big activity hall and an radio control car track.

Sam got us a great deal at this park for the month and you would think it would be great weather but so far it's been raining and windy. We get 100+ cable channels, many of which are analogue, and internet via a cable modem. Unfortunately the modem they supplied didn't have Wifi capability so we ended up buying a router from Best Buy so we can access the internet on all of our non Ethernet connection equipped devices.

They advised that the internet wasn't guaranteed 24 hours per day and we found out it doesn't work too well during the day. I'm guessing this is a symptom of cable internet and people being holed up inside watching TV all day. The people here seem nice and the first person we met actually lives in Campbellford, which is about 20 minutes from Brighton. So, you're no matter where you are you're never really too far from home.

With the bad weather we've spent the last couple of days catching up with chores, laundry and spent the latter part of today as a Blog Day Afternoon. Hopefully the weather improves and we can get out and start checking out the area tomorrow.
