Hot Hot Hot

24 December 2017
We awoke to Clear and sunny skies with a temp that got up to 75F with no wind. A perfect day!

It looks like 3 times a charm as the furnace worked perfectly overnight coming on several times to keep the temp up.
I went for a 1.5 hour ride and even saw a couple of other bike groups out. There don't seem to be too many riders or runners in this area so this was a bit of a surprise.

Sam went to the pool in the pm and I took the opportunity to get my bass out and hook it up to my Ipad and TV. We actually had internet connectivity during the day so I could play with an APP my buddy Larry told me about called Riffstation. This APP allows you to search for various songs you want to play. It finds whatever versions are out there on Youtube and you can select which 1 you'd like to use. The APP detects which chords are being played throughout the song and displays the notes along the bottom of the screen as the song progresses. It's not perfect as sometimes the notes are not correct or the timing is a bit off, but it helps give you the idea of what's being played and you can then figure out the tune with a bit of practise. The bass lines are different from the chords usually but it sure has helped my playing and opened up a whole new set of music I can jam to.

So one of the local Christmas customs down here is letting off fireworks. Someone thought they were gunshots but I'm thinking not as there were no sirens. But, Finn is not a big fan of loud bangs so he decided he would relocate his spot to behind Sam's chair, facing the corner of the wall. No matter how much we coaxed him or wrapped him in blankets, he headed back to his new hideout. Hopefully he'll either get used to this or the custom wands on Christmas Eve.

We don't have snow here but today's photo is a shot from the road on South Padre Island so this is probably as close as we'll get to a white Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone from Sam, Finn and Bill.
