The Big Bang Theory

29 December 2017
Dec 25th - 29th

On e of the challenges to doing this blog is to write entertaining stories of our experiences along the way on our trip. However, when you stay put for any length of time, the weather is bad and/or there is really nothing interesting going on in the vicinity, it becomes a challenge!

We had Christmas lunch at the activity centre here and there was lots of food. It was kinda funny though. as people all swarmed in, ate and then left like they had some kind of schedule to keep. The rest of the at was spent making Merry Christmas phone calls and watching tv. Weather continues to be cold and wet. They are really big here on fireworks for Christmas and Finn spent the evening looking for new places he could try and squeeze into for protection from the artillery raining down upon us. The poor little guy is constantly shaking and Sam finally drugged him with a Gravol which seemed to help.

The next few days have been a mix of cool, cold, fog, wet, wetter and 1 day of just damp along with varying degrees of wind. We're trying to stay in shape to ward off the holiday calorie intake so Sam's been doing fitness and yoga and I have been out for a couple of runs. With it being so wet there isn't too much to go and see in terms of outdoor activities. In fact, Sam even suggested we go to Harbor Freight 1 day just to get out. (That's like the female equivalent of me saying "let's watch The Bridges of Madison County" (I still don't know what Clint Eastwood was thinking when he made that one!)).

Sam ended up with a dental issue so we found a dentist that took walk in patients and we went for a visit. The place had high ratings on the internet so we figured it was worth a shot. It actually catered more to kids as it had 2 huge fish tanks, video game room and Disney movie theatre room! What kid wouldn't want to go there! they even came around to people in the waiting room and gave out pizza and water. That's gotta be a first!

Got home and once again found Finn ready to hit the road with his bag packed ready to hit the road to the promised land: Arizona. I can't say I blame him. I know compared to back home the weather here is nothing to complain about but after a week's drive we figure we paid our dues and should at least get a glimpse of the sun and see temperatures north of single digits C.

The most excitement we had was discovering that there was a light in our bedroom closet. We bought 1 from Harbor Freight and I was going to install it only to find the Keebler Elves beat me to it. They work very quietly as they didn't even wake us while installing it.
