Unexpected Repairs
21 August 2014 | Sacketts Harbor, NY
Rainy and Cloudy
When starting the engine the past couple of weeks, we noticed that it did not start as quickly as normal. After fueling and switching fuel tanks the filters became clogged. It was at that point we discovered one of our tanks was fouled. We had a company from Boston come to NY to polish the fuel and clean out the tanks. After that was completed, we still had issues getting the engine to start. That lead us to remove the fuel pump and injectors to have them rebuilt in Annapolis. We also decided to pull the fly wheel and have the gears replaced so that our starter would engage and start as it should.
So presently, our plans to prepare for departure (Sept. 8, 2014) are on hold until we get our repairs completed. We are staying with our daughter and family in Baldwinsville, NY while we continue to do what we can, while limited by the fact that the we cannot be on the boat.
