Spectacular Weekend to Pirate's Cove, Back home
22 April 2007 | Steveston, BC
Morgan MacKay
Had coffee for breakfast. Vanessa watched a Bald Eagle on Rock. Went for walk around park; shared a beer at the south end on the Island. Departed Pirates about noon, tide dropping fast, just touched keel leaving cove.
Motored up channel to Porlier Pass in rain and head on wind. Hauled up sails; full genoa and double reefed main after transiting pass. Great sail across straight. Passed a dolphin hunting in the rip tide. Shook out reefs in main near Sandheads then the wind died. Drifted 3 miles off Sandheads for nearly an hour. Turn on motor and hauled in all sail. Very low on fuel; gauge on empty. Reserved emergency fuel transport with Blue. Stayed in shallow water up river incase motor ran dry and we needed to anchor and call Blue. Turned on Canucks game and open a few beers.
Arrived in Steveston without problem. Lots of sun, overall a nice day. Great Company
