Steveston to Victoria

Departed Steveston at 08:45 after having breakfast with friends and family at the Steveston Hotel. After waving goodbye to everyone on the dock we headed out of the harbour into a stiff northwest wind and clear skies. Sailed from the bend through some pretty snotty conditions at Sandheads. Shot out of the river at 10 knots over ground and surfed our way down the Strait. Bill & Fay Borges came out to Georgina Point on Mayne Island to film the boat as we entered Active Pass.
Once into active pass the winds died down we motored for the next few hours, relaxing and tidying up some loose ends in vessel preparation, including completing the installation of the solar panel (It works!).
The wind was directly on the nose for most of the trip but we were able to sail the last few miles to Victoria Harbour once cleared Enterprise Channel. Motored into the harbour while sea planes took off from the harbour going the other way. The harbour was much busier than we had been lead to believe but we managed to find a spot. Morgan's dad and grandfather met us on the dock and helped us tie up. All secure just after 17:00. Not bad time considering our initial estimate of 12 hours!
