Last Night at Isla San Benedicto

Today we sailed around Isla San Benedicto! We saw humpback whales that were, what we think, teaching their young to slap there fins on the surface, brown footed boobies flying and landing on Havili just a couple inches away, a few giant mantas, and a show of spectacular clouds we are teaching ourselves to identify and understand what they mean for current and future weather. Our circumnavigation took just a few hours, but by the time we were back on anchor, most of us were feeling like a big batch of nachos and Lord of the Rings was the best way to finish the rest of the day. We watched the third and final movie and if you've seen it, you know it's a long one. During a little break, we heard splashing outside the boat and grabbed the dive light to investigate... dolphins!! Also silky sharks and some decent sized fish were circling around, eyes gleaming in the light. What a show San Benedicto has put on for us! We will be leaving tomorrow for Socorro which is just about 30 miles south of us. It will be sad to say good bye, but we will still be able to see the towering volcano from Socorro and reflect on what an unique experience we've had here! Much Love, Catherine
