Day ?

Well we are on day something out from Clipperton. I think it is actually around 10 or 11 days so far but without looking at a calendar I really have no concept of the days gone by. Its funny but time seems to pass much quicker out here with one day becoming the next before you know it. This is mostly the result of our watch schedule, each of us takes two 3 hour watches over the course of 24 hours. So you are on for 3 hours and then off for 9 hours, which is pretty luxurious as far as boat watches go. But because of this delineation of the day I seem to always be looking at the hours and subconsciously determining how much more time off I have. It also results in a very abnormal night of sleep with most of taking a series of 2 or 3 longer naps instead of a solid 8 hour rest; this is especially true when you have the 12-3 or 3-6 schedule. I have to say i dont mind the days going by a little quicker than usual, what with the fact that we still have another 2 weeks of this.
Currently we are 3 degrees south the equator and solidly in the Doldrums. There was not a lick of wind yesterday so for the first time on this passage we fired up the engine and have been making solid progress towards the southeast trade winds for the last 24 hours. It will be nice to have the engine off again soon as the temperature in the cabin goes up by about 20 degrees with it on. You've got to love that tropical heat!
Otherwise not too much to report except we have been seeing some small whales recently which we haven't quite identified yet (maybe pilot whales or another obscure super rare species). Its always exciting to see new creatures out here especially when they are 15 feet long!
Hope everyone is doing great!
