41.58.877 N 82.21.653 W August 14, 2014 As expected, the weather was pretty wet with Thunder Storms so we decided to stay put. We left early Tuesday morning and headed for Lake St. Clair. As we approached Detroit / Windsor we got drenched by a line of Thunderstorms but that was it. We ended up anchoring off a park in the Detroit River. That was a new experience for us. There was 2 to 2.5 knots of current in the river but we found less close to shore, maybe just over one knot. The thing is, the wind was just about opposite to the current so the boat pointed into the current and not the wind. We had to change our "snubber technics" so the chain would not rub on the hull. (a "snubber" is a piece of rope that we attach to the chain when anchoring to "snub" or take the force of the boat moving in the wind and waves vs. the chain which has no give at all) We left early in the morning and motor sailed through the Detroit River to Lake Erie. Going under the Ambassador Bridge between Windsor and Detroit I was taking a video and as I raised the camera the wind caught my hat and it was gone. Laurie asked me if we should come about to pick it up but we had the main up and more importantly, I was wondering what the DEA or the US Border Patrol think about a boat circling under the bridge... We had a good sail once out on the lake to Leamington. Last night we went in to provision from a real grocery store. At the moment we are about 5 miles offshore heading eastbound east of Point Pelee and not sure where we are going to end up. There are very few places along this part of the lake that have a protected anchorage. It is supposed to be a NW wind so we may just get close to shore somewhere
