32 ?41' N 72 ?46' W November 05, 2104 Here we are after our second night out, calm seas but nice and sunny. After going through the Gulf Stream yesterday the temperature warmed right up and after going from just above freezing when we left Hampton, it was time to break out the shorts! All is well. We are currently motoring to get south of 30 degrees North Latitude to try to stay ahead of a cold front coming in from the north late Friday when this area is expecting strong winds and possibly gale force winds off the Chesapeake Bay. We are already south enough to miss most of the bad stuff. 85% of the boats are behind us, mostly due to departure timing. I think there are only 5 ahead of us; three of which I can see. Of front group of 6 (including us), 4 are Outbounds! Of note, we should be covering 2 degrees of Latitude or Longitude per day so yes, we need to watch the weather pretty close. It is not like flying when we just "go around weather"! We have daily weather chats with the Salty Dawgs weather router but most of us do our own analysis as well. I download "Grib Files" daily that give me the forecast winds in a chart type format showing winds, waves, surface and 500mb pressure charts. I use those to validate what the weather guy is saying. So all is good except we have to motor all day today by the looks of things. Take care all!
