N 26.34; W 67.27 Hedonism Outbound 46 November 8 Last evening we decide to adjust heading to the rumb line for the BVIs and motor sail along with other Outbounds. The strategy on heading direct to the BVIs was simple, very little wind now or in the forecast. Shortly after we changed our course we had an alarm on the fuel system so we had to head back South East, shut the engine down and sailed in about 10 knots of wind. A nice albeit slower sail, while we changed fuel filters (5 days old) and started to polish the fuel in the suspect tank. (The other is fine) I figure the pounding we took a couple of days ago "stirred the tanks" and mixed up sediment. Funning thing is, we ran the polishing for a couple of days prior to departure. Oh well... The strategy on heading direct to the BVIs was simple, very little wind now or in the forecast. With the possibility of having about 40 % of our fuel contaminated drove the decision to head back SE "just in case we were not successful. The wind totally died around 1 AM so we stopped polishing and started the engine to motor sail, still SE. Laurie took the watch at 3 AM and I headed to the bunk. In the morning we switched to the newly polished fuel tank to see if we cleaned it sufficiently and all was good, so far. So, we turned back to the BVIs. And at noon the forecast was for light out of the SE... Well, it is currently 180 and holding steady at 20 knots. So; we are heading back SE as are the others. Fun times! All is good and everyone in good spirits.
