Not only is it sunny this morning but the entire deck is dry! It was a beautiful anchorage last night.(pic#1) Going into the East River was supposed to be a big challenge but Keith planned it out and all went well. So happy that we were able to see all of New York City and the lower Hudson river. Lady liberty( pic #2 it’s kind of hazy) Rikers island-the Battery- and tons of ferries, helicopters, walkers and millions of apartments! From my perspective they seemed to be built on top of each other. We also found the architecture pretty interesting. It was a long day and a few dark clouds were overhead a couple times but we never did get wet! We are anchored in a quiet bay with three other boats tonight. Venture ON K&B

Last night we stayed at a town dock. I asked a lady on the dock where to find restaurants. There was a Mexican place about a half mile away. Keith and I were walking, when this lady and her husband picked us up because they were curious about what we were up to! One of the joys of traveling by boat is the great people we meet along the way Since we had our port of call changed to Sandusky Ohio we’re asked often where we’re headed! Interesting that we started at Parkers boat yard in Massachusetts where we bought the boat. Our first night at anchorage was in Rhode Island, the next two nights were in Connecticut, & today we R anchored in a bay by New York City! Not bad for only averaging six knots! 4 states in 4 days. We had fog again this morning until about noon but at this anchorage I’m basking in 70° and sunshine. 😊 Hoping to pass by the Statue of Liberty tomorrow morning and head north up the Hudson river. Lots of fog
14 May 2022
Today is Saturday and we’ve been out for three days. Each morning has greeted us with fog! Yesterday and today the fog did not clear until well after 12. This makes it challenging for Keith as he totally has to depend on the chart plotter and radar for our location. You must really love it is standing at the wheel for 6 to 7 hours is a long time! Disappointed in that we’re not able to put the sails up yet. However we’ve had no rain and I’m able to go below, fix lunch & change my seating. We had interesting dockage last night. Beautiful 🤩 It was at a marina/resort! A bit pricey but very nice. They had a free shuttle bus that we took advantage of for groceries and dinner. We befriended the driver who has been at this resort since 2006. Apparently he spent many years as a bellhop and driver in New York City and just got fed up with the traffic and people so he came here. We observed two weddings, enjoy the hot tub and wonderful hot showers! Before we left this morning I went for a nice long walk along the shoreline. It was sunny and warm and clear but the minute we headed out of the marina a fog bank hit us. So grateful that everything on the boat seems to be working thus far. (minus the auto pilot) Our temperatures have been in the 50s so we are using the full range of clothes from down jackets to longsleeve T-shirts and shorts! VENTURE ON K&B
First day underway!
12 May 2022
Finally the wind died down in the night and it was a lovely morning to get started. We left a little after six am, takes about a half hour to get out of the bay. We had some fog and couldn’t see shoreline most of the way. The sun broke through around noon and we are in Rhode Island anchored off Point Judith for the night. It’s a tough afternoon basking in the sun and listening to the waves crash on the break wall! We are anchored here by ourselves but were surprised by how many fishing and pleasure boats are out. 💕😋☀️ Brenda
Anxious to get underway!

It’s light here on the East Coast about 5:15 AM. That’s great because we are early risers! The sunrise here in the bay is Gorgeous. Heavy winds have kept us here for a few extra days. However we are way back in the bay, tied up on a dock, so we’ve been very comfortable. HeleAku has passed all her test ( Engine- sails-steering- instrumentation, etc.) and even got the proper port of call on the side. (Pic) We are about 1.3 miles away from a small town. We walked the railroad tracks Sunday to attend a small church in Pocasset,Massachusetts. We were blessed by the friendly people and encouraging message. We went to a small corner café in town where we celebrated Mother’s Day. Monday we sat here and hoped the wind would subside. Hopefully it comes later tonight and we’re anxious to get out and begin our Adventure.
HeleAku passed her sea trial with flying colors!

Travels from OH to Cape Cod went well Wednesday for Keith and I. Still getting acquainted with where to put stuff. Today our broker and surveyor took us out sailing for 4 hours on Hele Aku’s final sea trial. We have a few more days and adjustments before taking off on our adventure! A big learning curve. 🙂 K & B
