We did an overnight at Ottawa town wall arriving around noon yesterday. Again I went nine days without laundry/groceries. We walked a mile to a laundromat and ended up at the nicest/cleanest of all. Walking home stopped at a small locally owned grocery store. Beyond friendly. The owner insisted on driving us back to the boat! We ate dinner out last night and I use my YMCA tag to take a shower as we have no restrooms on the wall or portable water.
The Fox river flows into the Illinois in this town. Asian carp fish are voracious eaters n displace game fish. Many different agencies are trying to control them. In this harbor we saw multiple fish wildly jumping out of the water. They are big and once frightened go into a jumping frenzy!
Keith has worked all morning shoring up the boat and making phone calls trying to find someone to put our mast back up along the way.
. Iām sending a picture of Abraham Lincoln as President. They had several large painted wall murals. My favorite was of the 1st Douglas/Lincoln debate. this little town hosted back in the day 13,000 people attending (at the park where we were able to walk through.) History never ceases to amaze me. How did that many people get there on horseback and with no cell phones?
