Leaving the land of Lincoln

Today we left the Illinois river and started down the Mississippi! We have had no cell service for the last three or four days. Earlier in the week we were on a wall. We were the first to arrive but joined by nine others by the end of the night. I walked into town, I got my hair cut and went through a very nice Lincoln museum. It had a courtroom on the second floor that is still in the use. a beautiful piece of history. While I was gone, Keith had the opportunity to see a brand new tugboat Christened. the owner invited him aboard and he was so impressed!
We continue to see many Eagles, white pelicans and Asian carps. A friend of ours was in their little dinghy and one actually jumped in it. Yikes! Very slimy. We continue to see multiple barges. We saw several park Ed together alongside waiting to be taken into Dock. One place I counted over 50! Almost like a parking lot.
Alongside the river the past 20 miles or so weβve seen several stilt houses, apparently summer homes.
We continue to have blue skies and sunshine. Temperatures do get down in the 30s at night but in the low 60s during the daytime and itβs very comfortable. The picture is at a very calm and peaceful anchorage. Itβs taken two months from Sandusky to get to the Mississippi and we are headed to St. Louis. Venture On. K& B
