We left San Blas and headed 21 miles south to Chacala Bay. Chacala has a beautiful small bay with a half mile sandy beach and quite a few American/Canadian tourists (from a beachfront RV park and an all inclusive resort).

Our first night in Chacala we were fortunate enough to join 20 others at a local's home for a fantastic home cooked meal. She opens her home up twice a week and charges $5US per meal. The second day Kent managed to get a bout of food poisoning from a beach restaurant and was out of commission for 24 hours. Quick to recover, the next afternoon we took a dingy ride out of the bay and did some fantastic whale watching. We observed a mother and her youngster frolicked in the water. We felt a mixture of being fortunate to be so close but then also a bit frightened by the size of the creatures we were watching.

After a few days, Chacala's rolly bay started to bother us (even with a stern anchor out to point our boat into the waves the swells made it difficult to sleep comfortably through the night). The final evening here we enjoyed a homemade pizza aboard Jammin. Man did pizza taste good, it has gone from being a staple in our diet to an anomaly.
