Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! We are still in the San Blas Islands and enjoying them to the fullest. Bob and Glenn left for home on Sunday and on Wednesday Joe, Lara and their 2 year old son Cobin arrived from Colorado to spend the next 2 weeks aboard Hiatus. During the 3 days between guests we anchored in an area called the East Lemmon Cayes. Hilights included some fantastic snorkeling over a wreck of a ship and ate dinner at a local Kuna's home. $5 for a plate full of lobster, rice and veggies and a can of beer - can't beat that price, the hospitality or the wonderful scenery from their small island.
Christmas Eve we all enjoyed a fantastic dinner aboard s/v Moody Blues and Christmas Day was spent kayaking, swimming and eating way too much food at a pot luck with a bunch of other cruisers in the area. Hiatus's Christmas present was a new fuel line and water hose for the engine and a new temperature override switch for the generator which Joe (and Kent) installed. The engine also got a much needed cleaning to remove layers of oil and salt buildup, which it was overdue for. We made a few quick calls on the satellite phone to friends and family and heard that Portland is having a very white Christmas this year. It doesn't quite feel like Christmas here in the Caribbean as the only white stuff on the ground is sand.
We will add pictures to these posts in a few weeks when we are back to civilization and have internet access. Right now these updates are going through our satellite phone and photos take way to many costly minutes to upload. That being said, the picture in this blog is of the island Kent named 'Kentdup'. In Kuna 'island' is called 'dup' and since this small island with only a few palm trees on it was unnamed on the charts Kent decided on a name!
