Darn You Bertie Higgins.....

08 December 2010 | Key Largo, FL
Mike
Well, this morning, I was out of the slip at 0630 and through the opening bridge before the Port Everglades Inlet at 0700 and out onto the Atlantic. The high winds had subsided and the seas had begun to lay down. By Florida standards, it was still chilly but it was tolerable.

I got the sails and the auto pilot set and I started to take in the scenery. It was a beautiful, sunny day even if it only got into the upper sixties. Now, I always have music playing in my head, no matter what I'm doing (maybe its to drown out the voices) and sometimes its triggered by external stimuli.

For Instance, as I was travelling off-shore of Biscayne Bay, I had the song "Dr. Wu" by Steely Dan stuck in my head (lyrics from the song).....but.....as the day progressed and I decided to make Key Largo my "end of the day" destination, the 1970's era song "Key Largo," by Bertie Higgins, would not leave my head, no matter what I was doing!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the song, but I was on the water for eleven hours today........ I'm just sayin'....

Anyway, I'm safely ensconced in...... that place that starts with KL. I hope to be in Key West by Friday night.

Here's a pic of Miami from off-shore
