Erie, Erie, Erie

Mike
Here I am in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Lake Erie and headed for the Erie Canal. It's...........(sic) erie I tell ya! (Sorry....all this time alone is making me a little punchy!)

Yesterday morning I left Fairport in fairly benign conditions enroute to Erie, PA. As the day wore on, the winds and waves started to build AGAIN. On the nose.....AGAIN! How many freaking days in a row can the wind come out of the EAST?!?!

Anyway, I ducked into the harbor at Conneaut,OH where they let me tie up to the sea wall by the fuel dock. Far from ideal with the swell in the harbor and all but better than beating my brains out on the water.

The people there were great and they let me stay there for free and even gave me the key to the facilities at the yacht club!

I got up early this morning and left at 0700. You'll never believe it but the wind was finally out of the SOUTH!! Woo Hoo! My first beam winds on Lake Erie.

I made it into Erie and was tied up in my slip before noon! I haven't had a chance to take any pictures yet but I will. I'm going to stay here a couple of nights to catch up on some boat and housekeeping projects. Oh yeah, I'll probably go have a beer somewhere too! I am retired ya know.
