Ground Hog Day
02 October 2008 | Solomons Island, MD
Did everybody see that movie? I felt like I lived through it in Annapolis. Don't get me wrong, Annapolis is a great town and I met some really nice people there but, for the last week anyway, the weather sucked!
First the "Noreaster" came through with high winds, rain and a high tidal surge. Then another system came through and brought several days of rain. Despite all this, I will have to say that I never had a bad meal the whole time I was there. And Jake, every bar I went to had Sam Adams Octoberfest on tap!!
Thanks to Captain Bob's friend (and my new friend) Joanne, I always had access to a ride if I needed it. Then on Sunday, Drummer Larry came by for a visit. It was good to see a friendly face from back home.
Wednesday morning, things looked good enough that I made my getaway and sailed to Solomons Island on the Patuxent River. It's a really nice area and a great Marina (Solomons Harbor Marina). Anyway, I'm gonna hang out here for a few days before venturing further south.
Here's the view from my cockpit.
Ps. Yes, Joe that was the Middleton Tavern.... and you're right the crab cakes were awsome!
