Here Come the Marines!

Mike
Well, today's trip took me right past, actually through, Camp Lejeune, NC. I don't think I'm giving away any military secrets to tell you they were definitely open for business.

Whatever they were doing, it involved lots of jets, Ospreys, attack helocopters, big kabooms and plumes of white and gray smoke. I felt like a little kid watching them zoom over and hearing the explosions. Several times, tight formations of helicopters would come right over the boat at what appeared to be not much over mast-height.

Once again, my camera was below but I don't think it would have mattered. I realize, it was only an exercise and all, but witnessing all that firepower first hand did not inspire me to want to point ANYTHING at them, lest they mistake my intentions. *ulp*

Anyway, it was really cool and I'm glad they're on our side!
