Chillin' Out

07 December 2008 | Fort Pierce, FL
Mike
Well, after leaving Cocoa, I spent one night in Vero Beach before coming to Fort Pierce. I've decided to spend the month of December in Fort Pierce for a few reasons.

Primarily, to get a reduced rate for dockage. As you could well imagine, renting a slip by the month is much more economical than doing it by the night.

Also, just to relax for a bit and enjoy being in the warm weather without having to prepare for a new trip each day. The marina here has several things within walking distance including a grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants and a West Marine store. Furthermore, there is a restaurant and tiki bar about 40 feet from my slip! (Xanadu!!!) Fort Pierce is far enough south that they rarely get cold weather and when they do its pretty short lived.

Last but certainly not least, I have some Parrot Head friends here who have already been very helpful and have made me feel quite welcome.

Anyway, in addition to relaxing, I intend to get some more boat jobs done and start figuring out my plans from here. I'll keep checking in and keeping you all up to date. Now, where did I put that sun screen?
