Meyers Chuck and Purse Seiners at work in Ernest Sound

On Sunday 6th we travelled from Meyers Chuck to Frosty Bay. The anchorages have some interesting names. At Meyers Chuck a lady goes around the anchorage by boat in the morning selling fresh pastries to the cruisers. What a treat - warm cinnamon raisin scrolls. She lives at Meyers Chuck all year round. It's a tiny place with about 20 houses, and her husband does commercial fishing. I cannot imagine spending the winter there.
The salmon season is currently open and we had to navigate our way through the fishing fleet, but it was interesting to watch the purse seiners at work. The fishing season has a number of openings and closings, not just one continuous period of fishing. The catch is monitored to ensure that over-fishing does not occur.
